1987
By: Kevin Carton

1987, what if we skipped that year
the world would be better, I wouldn’t be here
you wouldn’t have to bother with all that I do
gray clouds go away and the sky would turn blue
would you like it if I’d disappear?

I can’t change the past, erase history
Make you forget the last dance you shared with me
Or the time that I kissed you goodnight on your porch in the light of the moon
I was content but if you really meant what you said
I’ll be seeing you

I know it hasn’t been perfect these last couple days
Give me one more change to make everything ok
Let me hold your hand through a sun set one more time
I need another day to say you are mine
I didn’t want it to end this way

I can’t change the past, erase history
Make you forget the last dance you shared with me
Or the time that I kissed you goodnight on your porch in the light of the moon
I was content but if you really meant what you said
I’ll be seeing you

Have you ever though about
What your life would be with out
Seeing me everyday?
Would u feel safe from harm
Maybe longing for my arms
If I was suddenly taken away
They say when you love someone
You’ll do anything to take away their pain
Well I think you gave it to me yesterday
On the corner in the rain
I’m trying to hold on but I’m losing my grip
I don’t have time I’m too young for this shit
I don’t need it
Don’t need it
But I need you

I can’t change the past, erase history
Make you forget the last dance you shared with me
Or the time that I kissed you goodnight on your porch in the light of the moon
I was content but if you really meant what you said
I’ll be seeing you
