Before
By: Kevin Carton
Look at him
Look at you
Go talk to the one you thought you knew
Cause he’s wondering
Just where you’ve been
And he’s wondering
When you’ll kiss again
And he’s tired of always being alone
So he tried to call you on the phone
But you didn’t answer you weren’t home
You went out with the boy holding the microphone
He wants to know
What did he do
All I know
Is he’s missing you
he wants it back to the way it was
Back before
There was us
He sees us smile
He sees us laugh
He cant get out
Stuck in the past
He goes and sits along the coast
Where you and him hung out the most
Sometimes late at night he cries
And he wants you to sing him a lullaby
To get him out of the misery
Of seeing the one he loves with me
He wants to know
What has he done
Why do you give me
All your love
He wants it back to the way it was
Back before
There was us
he remembers how those rainy days were
when you locked him out of his thunderbird
And wouldn’t let him in till he said I love you 67 times
And then he had to drive home wet
But the goodnight kiss made up for that
And now he cant stand seeing that your mine
And it burns him deep inside
He wants to hold you now tonight
He wishes you didn’t say goodbye
He wants it back to the way it was
Back before
There was us
