Letters to Cali
By: Kevin Carton

Hot summer day listening to the local band play
and here she comes. she’s heading my way
as we begin to talk it begins to rain
but the band keeps jamming the people keep dancing
and everything’s ok its ok

come dance with me move your feet to the beat of the song
in my arms spinning round in a street downtown is right where you belong
and I told you I’d hold you if ever you got scared
and if you fall I’ll pick you up I promise you I’ll always be there
sometimes friends need a little more than what they’ve got
that’s when they hop in their cars and drive to a dark parking lot
and when I saw you walking my way love that’s when I knew
so come sit by me all night long
and I’ll hold you

some times things work out sometimes they never do
right now I’m not concerned about me and you
but if you will come with me you know that I’d stay true
I’ll hold you tight, all through the night, I promise that I’ll follow through

come dance with me move your feet to the beat of the song
in my arms spinning round in a street downtown is right where you belong
and I told you I’d hold you if ever you got scared
and if you fall I’ll pick you up I promise you I’ll always be there
sometimes friends need a little more than what they’ve got
that’s when they hop in their cars and drive to a dark parking lot
and when I saw you coming my way love that’s when I knew
so come sit by me all night long
and I’ll hold you

times get crazy, vision gets hazy
you ask for daffodils you stuck with the daisies
the band broke up cause the drummer left town
that’s too bad they had a unique sound
some things change some stay the same
I still feel the way I did in the rain
and I think I’m falling I thought you should know
and if you ever get lost don’t know where to go, you can

come dance with me move your feet to the beat of the song
in my arms spinning round in a street downtown is right where you belong
and I told you I’d hold you if ever you got scared
and if you fall I’ll pick you up I promise you I’ll always be there
sometimes friends need a little more than what they’ve got
that’s when they hop in their cars and drive to a dark parking lot
and when you coming my way love that’s when I knew
so come sit by me all night long
and I’ll hold you
